Milestone!

The week is ending on a great note, even though it didn't start that way.     Struggling on the weekends.     Between going to a party on Saturday night and watching football on Sunday, I was actually pretty amazed that I did not gain any weight last weekend.    Didn't lose any either, but with the extra eating and drinking I did, I was thrilled to step on the scale Monday morning and see I didn't lose ground.     I did stick with my Herbalife shakes for breakfast both days and I kicked it up a notch on the treadmill - guilt miles I guess.

My excitement in not going backwards helped me to commit even more:  2 shakes a day - 1 for

breakfast and 1 for dinner.   I was able to continue my weight loss this week.   Total lost: 15 Pounds!Oh...and 1 pants size.    Getting to wear clothes I haven't been able to wear in quite some time.     My energy level continues to rise as I am getting all my vitamins and not having to carry as much weight.    I used to come home exhausted from work, not wanting to do much.    Now when I get home the last thing I want to do is sit down.

Challenge ahead:    Halloween party this weekend (ugh!) - not the party, but resisting temptation.    Plus, I have to bring a dessert.   Great.   This is going to be interesting.   My plan is to drink my dinner shake right before I go to the party.    Fingers crossed!

Awesome Week!

Wow.    What a fantastic week.   I have tried different diets, but this is the first time I have found a system that makes me feel this great.   With Herbalife, I do not feel hungry all the time.   The shakes are delicious and I am getting the nutrition I need.   I have my Herbalife water bottle that I carry with me.  I take it to work, in the car, wherever.   I use it for water, or the Herbalife teas.

Here is the great news.... I have lost 11 pounds as of this morning.   I am so excited.   After I got off the scale, I went and picked up my two 5 lb weights.    Let me tell you, they are not that light!   I already lost them plus 1 additional pound.   I think about the strain I have been putting on my body by carrying around all this extra weight.

I've also been experimenting with different shake flavors by adding a teaspoon of pudding (any flavor you want, chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch) as well as peanut butter, rootbeer extract, which makes a great rootbeer float.

Challenges this week have been on the days I did NOT bring my lunch to work.   I caved and got roasted potatoes and corn at the cafeteria.   Potatoes are my weakness.   I love them.   Baked, mashed, home fries....doesn't matter.   After lunch, I keyed them in for my calorie count, and I was so upset with myself after I saw the calories I ate.   I didn't seem like that much.    So now my new routine is to key the item in first and see how the calories come out, because I'll tell you, once you see them, it puts you off eating the item.

GOAL:  100  LBS        POUNDS LOST:  11  LBS      POUNDS REMAINING:    89  LBS

89 Pounds to go.    Sometimes it seems like a lot, but 100 sounded much bigger.   And seeing how quickly I lost the first 11 pounds, I definitely feel this is attainable.    Till next time........

Wow, its been a few days since my last post and I've learned some things.

First....I've 3 lost pounds!!!    I have been using an AP - "My Fitness Pal" - that let's me track what I eat and the calories.  The best part is that it has all of the Herbalife products on it!   Keying in what you eat makes you really accountable because it tells you the exact calorie count and nutrients.    It has really helped me focus.

The biggest challenge I have found is finding my weak points - those times I have programmed myself to eat.  One that I found this weekend, is watching football.   You see, I am a HUGE NY Giants fan.    I have programmed myself to park on the couch, cook up some fine food, a little drink and watch my Giants win (Look out San Fan!!!).   Those are our challenges.   Those times when we are "programmed" to act a certain way....eat, drink, smoke....     We need to identify those and figure outdd how we are going to change them.   I slipped a little.    I ate a bowl of scalloped potatoes after dinner.    Not as bad as I usually do, but not what I needed to do.

I do not have easy answers.    We each need to identify our weaknesses ahead of time and find a way we are going to deal with them.   I still have a ways to go.   The good news is that since I was doing so well in following the program, I did not "gain" any weight watching football.   The bad news..... I did not lose any.    At this point, that is not okay.   I have not dedicated myself to this extent to fail every weekend.   I need to figure this out.   Any suggestions???

Till next time...........

Today is the day I am taking charge of my weight, my nutrition and well, basically, my life.   I have decided that I cannot wait another day.   It's time to start living my life to the fullest.   My goal:  lose 100 lbs.   I decided to create this blog to document my journey and hopefully inspire others to join me.

GOAL:  100  LBS        POUNDS LOST:   0  LBS      POUNDS REMAINING:    100  LBS

(Wow, an alarm just sounded in my house - great, there is a tornado
warning outside - my first since moving here.   Is that a bad sign for
                      my Diet?    I hope not!)

A little about me....I am a 46 year "young" professional, widowed 9 months ago and have just relocated half-way across the U.S. for my job.   It is been a stressful time to say the least.   I tend to internalize my stress and put taking care of myself last.   Good nutrition and exercise never made it near the top of my list of priorities.    That stops now.   Financial advisors tell you to "pay yourself first" when trying to save money.   I am going to pay myself first in regards to my health through proper nutrition and exercise.

Now, I had to figure how to go about losing 100 lbs. in a way that would ensure success.   Here is the criteria it had to meet:

1.  It had to taste good (cuz let's face it - who wants to eat diet food that tastes bad?)
2.  It could not be too complicated (needs to fit into a busy lifestyle)

A former boss of mine told me of his success with Herbalife.   I met with him and his wife to learn more.  When I arrived, he asked me what my favorite ice cream was.   (Huh?)   I told him Cookie's and Cream.    Next thing you know he's at the blender putting a little of this and a little of that into the glass.    A minute later he pours it into a cup and hands it to me.   I'll admit, I was a bit nervous at taking the first sip, but imagine my surprise when it turned out to be delicious!     I thought:   something this good CANNOT be good for you.   He assures me it is.    Ok, criteria #1- taste good - has been met.

Then he explained the program in more detail.    Two shakes a day to replace 2 meals.   The third meal would be a regular meal.   All I needed was a blender (check), ice, water and some product.   Okay, that doesn't seem hard at all.   Criteria #2 met.

Now in addition to meeting with him, I also did some research on my own through the internet and I was impressed.    Not only with the weight loss results, but also with the nutrition side.    I decided to that this would be the vehicle to help me with my goals.    Ok - time to order some product, which I did the other day.    Yesterday I came home to find my box on the front steps.   No turning back now.    Here is my product:

Now it's time to make my first shake.   Blender out, put in a cup of ice and 8 oz of water.   2 scoops of Cookie's and Cream and 2 scoops of vanilla protein.   Blend Away!!    Tastes just like the one my boss made me - delicious.     Now my current boss would probably not like it if I brought a blender to work and placed it on my desk so I've decided that during the week I will replace breakfast and dinner with shakes.    On weekends, it will be breakfast and lunch.   I may adjust that once I see how it's working.

This is day one on my way to my new life!   Well, gotta go close some windows just in case the Tornado Warning turns out to be real.   Later!
